“A place where we belong"
Together the Staff and Trustees are fully committed to providing a positive and supportive environment that maximises teaching and learning.
It is our vision to support our students to explore their potential with: Confidence, Positive Relationships, Active Involvement and Skills for Lifelong Learning.
The values that we encourage our students to live by are: Respect and Honesty for Self, Others and the Environment.
We place a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy while developing creativity and thinking skills within our daily classroom programmes. Students use an Inquiry Approach to learning in all curriculum areas to develop their critical thinking and inquiring minds.
Students are provided with excellent leadership opportunities and are involved in a range of academic, sporting, creative and technological experiences. These experiences are enhanced by our involvement with the Kainui Cluster of schools.
Hiwinui is a successful school as a result of the contribution of all the people involved. We appreciate our rural environment and foster a family and community spirit through a sense of belonging.
Over the last few years the facilities at Hiwinui School have been greatly enhanced and we are extremely proud of what we have.
The staff and Board of Trustees are extremely proud of our school and our strengths have been highlighted in our latest Education Review carried out in March 2016.
