Currently we have fifteen children in Room Two, nine boys and six girls. Three are students who spent Terms 1, 2 and 3 of 2021 in Room 2 and twelve who have come through from Room 1. We have started off the year talking about our school value of Respect, respect for ourselves, others and the school environment. We have explored a number of words that we think describe us as learners and our classroom expectations. This is helping us remember that we all have the right to learn, to be respected, to have our voices heard and to listen. We have talked about how we learn when we: use our manners, make mistakes, share, and are kind and laugh together.
We are all working to progress our Pepeha further this year. Our goal is to present this in front of the Ruahine Ropu and the Hiwinui Hui during the year. In Literacy time a few of us are finishing learning the sounds that letters make. A small group are reading decodable readers and a few of us are now reading Ready to Read books and continuing to progress our Liz Kane Literacy Code Knowledge. Each fortnight we have new Heart Words to learn. This is our comprehensive and individualised spelling programme. For Maths we are learning how to do our Number Knowledge fact track packets by ourselves and number of the day. We are beginning to use the Literacy and Numeracy tumble in Room 2 where we have to be self-managers and take responsibility to complete our learning tasks.
